Soulard Special Business District Seeking Commissioner

The Soulard Special Business District is seeking a commercial property renter to join its Board of Commissioners.  Board members are initially screened by the Board of Commissioners and approved by the Mayor’s office. Prior to consideration, the Application Petition and Application Parts B & C must be completed and forwarded to the Board of Commissioners.



The SSBD Board of Commissioners is continuing to oversee enhanced security efforts in the district.  There has not been any interruption in extra security patrols or camera surveillance amidst stay-at-home orders issued in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.  All safety efforts will remain active as businesses begin to reopen in the coming weeks and months.  The Board of Commissioners held its regularly scheduled public meeting ...

SSBD spreads safety awareness

About Soulard Special Business District

Approved by voters as a “special taxing district” in 1994, the primary purpose of the Soulard Special Business District is to provide enhanced security inside the district boundaries. This includes private security patrols (off-duty City of St. Louis Police officers), security products to residents (e.g., car clubs, energy-efficient lightbulbs, etc.), crime/safety education and other safety-related services to residents living within the boundaries of the SSBD.

An important component of the Soulard Special Business District is the seven person board.  Each board member serves a four-year term and district guidelines require that the board be composed of four property owners, one property renter, one business/property owner and one business owner/property renter.

The #SLMPD has continued to address #cruisers & drag racers in the downtown area. Below are photos of 2 vehicles & an ATV that were towed during our enforcement efforts this passed weekend. Two subjects were arrested along w/the seizure of these 2 firearms & suspected narcotics.

Around 2:30 am on 5/24/20 officers located a vehicle @ St. Louis/Kingshighway which had been taken in a carjacking 3 hrs prior @ Athlone/Penrose. The vehicle fled from officers & crashed @ I-70/Union. Two 18yos & a 16yo were taken into custody. 2 firearms & narcotics were seized
