Approved by voters as a “special taxing district” in 1994, the primary purpose of the Soulard Special Business District is to provide enhanced security inside the district boundaries. This includes private security patrols (off-duty City of St. Louis Police officers), security products to residents (e.g., car clubs, energy-efficient lightbulbs, etc.), crime/safety education and other safety-related services to residents living within the boundaries of the SSBD.
Soulard Special Business District Board
An important component of the Soulard Special Business District is the seven person board. Each board member serves a four-year term and district guidelines require that the board be composed of four property owners, one property renter, one business/property owner and one business owner/property renter.
This week is #NationalPoliceWeek. We honor and thank the brave men and women that have selflessly sacrificed their lives for the safety of our communities, including #SLMPD Officer #TamarrisBohannon who was tragically killed last year while responding to an active shooter call.
Today marks the first day of Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The American story as we know it would be impossible without the strength, contributions, and legacies of AANHPIs who have helped build and unite this country.
