About Soulard Special Business District

Approved by voters as a “special taxing district” in 1994, the primary purpose of the Soulard Special Business District is to provide enhanced security inside the district boundaries. This includes private security patrols (off-duty City of St. Louis Police officers), security products to residents (e.g., car clubs, energy-efficient lightbulbs, etc.), crime/safety education and other safety-related services to residents living within the boundaries of the SSBD.

An important component of the Soulard Special Business District is the seven person board.  Each board member serves a four-year term and district guidelines require that the board be composed of four property owners, one property renter, one business/property owner and one business owner/property renter.

SSBD Public Safety Meeting - Monday, Jan. 8th, 7:00pm @ Athletic Club (2301 S. 7th). Please join the Board, security provider & Ald. Coatar, who will share efforts to reduce crime & improve safety in SSBD District boundaries. Will also be a Q&A session.
